Well, this week held my favorite holiday of the year and I am so thankful to have been able to spend it with my family. My entire family, minus a few cousins and an uncle, came to LA for a week of California adventures and Thanksgiving. It was incredibly tiring but also filled my heart with so much joy and warmth. We took a day trip to the San Diego Zoo and the Hotel Del Coronado (a BEAUTIFUL hotel). We also hit up many LA touristy hot spots like Venice beach, Chinese Grauman's Theater, Pinks Hotdogs, the Hollywood sign, a studio tour, The Grove and the LACMA lampposts. We ended the week with a rainy, magical day at Disneyland all decked out in Christmas decor. I couldn't have asked for a better Thanksgiving week or a better group of people to take over my house for a week ;)

This week was a week of rest and work. I returned back to LA, just as I had adjusted to the TX timezone, worked for a few days and started preparing for Thanksgiving week. In a rare time between my 2 months of travel plans, I chose to spend this week relaxing and enjoying the calm before the storm, both figuratively & literally. It actually rained for most of the week out here! Granted no one in LA knows how to handle the rain, much less drive in it. But it didn't matter, I love the rain and welcomed it like an old friend.
I got to spend half of this week in California and the other half back in the great state of TEXAS. It's been one glorious week. I spent some wonderful time with my family and took a trip back to my alma mater and the greatest place in the world: Baylor University. I reconnected with my old college roommates and enjoyed some of the wide open Texas roads I love so dearly on the drive home. I'm pretty sure I never stopped smiling the entire week.
This week has been a mix of ups and downs, employment and days at home, cooking actual healthy meals and eating leftovers. I finally got my car back (not without some extremely annoying details at the rent car place), crossed a lot of things off my list of errands I've had lying around for weeks and was even able to squeeze in a few blog posts :)
SO excited to start this new weekly blog series! I got the idea from one of my favorite bloggers, Cupcakes and Cashmere. On the blog, Emily has a series called Five Things where she posts 5 pictures of things that brought her joy during the week. They range from something as simple as fresh flowers to driving up the coast for a day at the beach. I LOVE THIS IDEA. So guess what? I'm going to start doing it! Every Saturday morning I am going to post pictures of 5 little things that made me smile and brought me joy during the week. And by week I mean Monday-Friday, because lets be real...weekends are always joyous. It is much harder for me to find happiness during the week and these posts will challenge me to find the beauty in each week. So here we go! First post of my weekly series, The One All About The Little Things! |
So... What's this all about?Lately I have realized that I 've not been thankful for the little things in life, which is ridiculous. Because lets face it, the little things are often times the BEST things & somehow I don't appreciate the simple beauty of them even though they surround me daily. So I started this series of monthly posts of 8 things that bring me happiness/joy during the month. Far too often I waste away the day and this series will challenge me to appreciate the little things and truly count my blessings each month. Archives
