Huzzah. Lots and lots of huzzahs.
Going to a Renaissance Faire as you may recall was on my 20s project list, what you may not know is a large part of the reason why is because of a Gilmore Girls episode. You remember... the one where Luke's sister married TJ in a Renaissance wedding and Lorelai looked beautiful in her pink dress & flower crown? (brb gotta go have a Gilmore Girls marathon real quick).
But let me tell ya, going to my first Renaissance Faire was everything I hoped it'd be and more.

This faire was HUGE with lots of ummm-unique things to offer. I have never in my life seen more people in costume AND IN CHARACTER for an entire day. Major props. The jousting was definitely a major highlight, I got so into it I forgot to take pictures. It took all of 30 seconds for me to join in the aggressive cheering for the dashing young Italian knight Alfonso and boo at the old snarky knight WHO KILLED A KID. Obviously it was just part of the show, but he slaughtered him and another chick with legitimate bloodshed. It was a liiiiitle embarrassing how much I got into it... but how many times do you get to see a joust TO THE DEATH in your life? Not many.
Also the food. Three words: Uh-Maz-Ing. The turkey legs were as big as my face and they literally made you gobble for them (and pay $10). Also, if you can't finish your turkey leg, might I suggest giving it to a Viking who looks hungry, they are actually pretty friendly fellas. But if you're going to buy one food at the Ren. Faire, it better be corn on the cob. Best $4 I have ever spent in my entire life y'all. The pasta wasn't too bad either (doesn't sound very Renaissance-y but it was goooood).
For future reference, if you're going to a Ren. Faire on a budget make sure to factor in $$ for tips. No one wants to be the first person in line to break the tipping streak and get glares instead of a "HUZZAH FOR THE GENEROUS TIPPER". Trust me, it's not worth it.

Some people may judge or think it's lame, but who cares?! The Renaissance Faire was the best possible way I could have spent the day and I don't regret it for a second. Also, there is no where else I have ever seen an entire crowd of people truly happy all day long and not wasting their time caring about what other people think. It was very refreshing and freeing to be surrounded by that. You better believe I'm making this an annual thing people. Plus it doesn't hurt that it's down the street from the closest Sonic to LA... I'll HUZZAH to that!
