Like most normal humans, during my free time at work I doodle.
Oodles and oodles of doodles.
And lately I've been thinking, instead of just doodling, why don't I create something for someone. After all, gift giving is one of my love languages! And with Valentines Day just around the corner, why not turn my doodles into cards!
After making several goofy cards for some friends, I stumbled onto this website and immediately got inspired. DoSomething.org is a site for young peeps ages 13-25 (barely making that cut-off y'all) that insipres youngins with campaigns for social change! It's not protesting or rallys or anything intense like that, it's just a good place for people to come together and do good. Aka my favorite kind of place.
I found a campaign called Love Letters that mails your handmade Valentines Cards to senior citizens all around the country!! And anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE old people!!!!! So what better way to spend some free time, use my creative juices, and spread some much needed lovin' to people who are a heck of a lot cooler/ wiser than I am :)
I encourage y'all to do the same. It's simple, quick, and can make someones day (which I bet you 10 dollars will also make your day). If you don't want to send them to the elderly, maybe make one for the grocery store clerk you see every week or the homeless man on the corner who always wishes you a good morning. Just a thought :)
And happy (early) Valentines Day!!
