Ahhh lunch breaks, I've got a love/hate relationship with those puppies. Lemme explain...
Lunch breaks are different for everyone. Sometimes they are 30 minutes, 1 hour, or at your desk (aka the nonexistent lunch break). But I think, as often as possible, lunch breaks should be just that: breaks.
Honesty hour... I really HATE hour-long lunch breaks. Or at least I used to. I'm sure people who don't have time for lunch breaks are mentally picturing my slow painful death right now...but I think 1 hour is just too long. I mean think about it, especially if you bring lunch from home, y'all that tupperware container is licked clean in about 12 minutes flat. Then you look at the clock, NOW WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?! Then the wave of panic attacks hit. Happens every time (introvert problems). What in the world am I supposed to do for the next 48 minutes?! To an introvert 48 minutes in a crowded room with nothing to keep you from making awkward eye contact with ohhhh I don't know, EVERYONE, is the worst possible version of eternity...
So I decided to flip this problem around. I told myself, "Katie... you have a whole hour to do something!" Then I realized, what is wrong with taking a break in the middle of the day to clear my head and do something completely un-work related?? NOT. A. THING. So I've decided to spend my lunch breaks doing something fun, doing something for me. In receptionist/assistant world, your entire day is spent doing things for other people. So why not make this hour all about you?
That's when my creative side kicked into overdrive. Around that same time I stumbled onto this post from the lovely ladies at A Beautiful Mess and I loved this series right away. They take time in their day, no matter what it looks like, to document it and share in their adventures. So that's what I'm going to do! ...but on my lunch break.
I won't post about every lunch break I have (how annoying would that be) because honestly stuff does come up and every lunch break can't be an adventure. But for the ones that can, I am really happy to share them with y'all :)
So here it is, my first lunch break adventure! Enjoy!
